I never met Blair, but am currently working on the alteration of volcanic glass as part of my PhD. Therefore, I have read many of his papers from the 1980/90s. I am saddened to learn of his death. Just thought you might like to know that his research lives on and is currently helping a postgraduate from across the pond!

Blair was an inspiring mentor and a great guy! I'll always appreciate how much he enjoyed the Washington Christmas Revels. His spirit is with us, and I hope he finds the perfect wine cellar.
