Blake S. Denney
Blake Sanford Denney, 82, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Denney was born in 1926, in Chilhowie, Virginia, the son of the late Wiley Fielden Denney. Mr. Denney was a retired Game Warden for the State of Virginia, based in Richmond. He was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church in Winchester, Virginia. Mr. Denney was a Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy.
He married Theo Eaten Kerns on September 18, 1957, in Toms Brook, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife, is his step-son, Herman Kerns of Hanover, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Glen Kerns, Leonard Kerns, and Lynne Michelle Brown; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Dora Ellen Megonnell of Pennsylvania, Dorothy Badders of Maryland, Eloise Yerber of Charlestown, West Virginia; two brothers, Wendell Denney and Ronnie Denney.
Two sisters, Gay Unger, Deloris Greffin and two brothers, Eugene Denney and Gavin Denney preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Pastor Glenn Welsh officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Gore, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Charles Clark, Tim Largent, Herman Kerns, Glen Kerns, Windell Denney, and Leonard Kerns. Military Honors afforded by VFW Post 2123.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Sy Blake Kerns.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
