Powell Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Searcy Obituary

Blake Hunter, 25, died on January 23, 2016 in Searcy Arkansas. He was born in Charlotte NC to his parents Dedra and Steve Hunter of Bentonville Arkansas. He has a sister Kalyn Hunter and a brother Chase Hunter both of Bentonville. Grandparents are Ralph and Shirley Hunter of Owasso Oklahoma, and George and Joy Oliver of Searcy Arkansas. Blake loved family, travel, being on the stage and children. He had found ways to bring many of those together by teaching others whether it be in the classroom, traveling performance groups or with various stage productions. Most recently he was a teacher at Cross Pointe Academy in Searcy Arkansas, where he taught theatre and he had just been offered a future role teaching and training young performers for Broadway shows in New York. While a student at Harding University he was actively involved in many of the music and theatre programs as a participant and most recently as a staff choreographer for the annual Spring Sing extravaganza and Homecoming productions. He was a member of TNT men's club, Zeta Rho Beau and the Pied Pipers, a traveling children's performing group. Blake participated in Spring Sing each year and was honored to be chosen as Spring Sing Host in 2014. Blake graduated from Bentonville, Arkansas High School where he was a National Honor Student, a 4 year varsity letterman on the soccer team as well as a member of Chamber and Acapella Choirs. In addition he was involved in numerous theatre productions throughout High School. He was a member of the Church of Christ and active in his church and youth group. Blake traveled on several missionary trips to places like Chile, Mexico, Scotland and loved to impact the lives of those he touched. A celebration of life will be at 1:30 on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the College Church of Christ. The family will receive guests after the service.
