Blanche Ruth Withee

Blanche R. (Fish) Withee, 99, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at home.  Born in West Springfield, daughter of the late Benjamin H. and Ruth M. (Heywood) Fish, she was a lifelong resident and a graduate of West Springfield High School. Blanche was a retired secretary to the former Chief of Police in West Springfield. Previously she worked as an executive secretary for the former Strathmore Paper Company.  She did volunteer typing for the West Springfield/Agawam Open Pantry and for the Radio Reading Service of Western Massachusetts.  She also participated as an access volunteer for the former Continental Cablevision doing video camera work for various town and senior events.  She was a member of the First Congregational Church.  Her husband, Donald F. Withee died in 2021.  She leaves a son, Robert H. Withee of Brookline, NH, a daughter, Donna R. Jacobs of Great Barrington, MA,  four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by three brothers, Robert Fish, Benjamin H. Fish and Russell W. Fish.  A service in the chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 2pm.  There are no calling hours. Curran Jones Funeral Home is in charge.
