Not sure what to say?

Dear Edie and Barb,

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy at this time. Know that you and all your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I remember many wonderful talks with Bob and Edie at Northern Grounds and it seems like most of the time we agreed on the subject. Mostly I remember the times you were either going to or coming from skiing and admired the stamina of you both. I also appreciate the affection he showed for me on several occasions, most notably, his pencil drawing...

I will always cherish the times when Bob, Lil, Barbara and I played music together. We will all miss Bob's good humor and generous spirit. Our sincere sympathy to Edie, Barbara, Stephen and Jessica.

JackPine was a part of many northlanders lives including ours. He was an amazing artist and writer, gifts that will be shared with many generations to come. He was also a musician who inspired others. Our prayers are with all the family and our dear friend, daughter Barbara. Blessings and strength dear friend.

I met Bob on my honeymoon at Gunflint Lodge in 1999, as he was there visiting Justine Kerfoot. He autographed one of his books for me. He was a very sincere person, and sat down with me to talk and visit. He was truly a legacy to the northwoods and a way of life that is forever gone. There are no more likes of his kind left. He will forever be remembered for his leadership and stories. Thanks Bob for all of the memories you have created. My deepest sympathy to your family.

I never met Bob, but I feel like I know him like an old friend. I have one of his books that I've read at least a half dozen times and it never failed to make me happy and sad in the same reading but always glad to be outdoors. He was a great example of what a human being should be.

It was my pleasure to "tell lies" with "Jackpine Bob" on those rare occasions when he was able to attend local Marine functions.
My condolences to his loved ones.
