Not sure what to say?

Everyone who attended SEHS in the last 15 years knew Bob Hanes. If he wasn't coaching jumps or pole vaulting he was working at some other athletic event. I have such fond memories of Bob during my time at SEHS (1993-1997). My heart goes out to Kandi and his boys.

God bless, Erin (Riley) Dieter

The Mellum family from the Emerald Street gang, gives there condolences to the Hanes family. We all grew up with Bob, he was our paper boy, a friend and always compassionate about South Eugene High School. RIP Bob. .

While I never had the pleasure of meeting Bob face-to-face, we did spend hours and hours talking on the phone and shared an occasional e-mail. Bob was a mentor of sorts to me and helped open doors for me that would have otherwise remained shut and out of reach. I'm saddened... for my own loss and the loss to his family and friends. I'm heartened knowing that he now is beyond the pain. To Kandi and the children: Thank you for sharing Bob with me for these last 10 years.

I went to high school with Bob and shared a Uni course too. I moved away to Australia but would invariably bump into Bob somewhere ( maybe a Rita's burrito line or a high school reunion) when I was back in Eugene for a visit. His conversation was always positive, peppered with humor and a ready smile. I will miss that smile and the mischievous twinkle in his eyes.

R.I.P Bob. I will be working twice as hard on the track, just for you.

I knew Bob through my older brother. Craig and he were friends in high school and altho' I didn't know him as well, i always enjoyed seeing him and hearing them clown around. May peace be with you.

Bob surely had one of the greatest senses of humor of all time -- he could ALWAYS make people laugh! [Betsy Datri, Eugene, OR]

I only knew Bob via the internet, and I wasn't the most regular of correspondents, but the news of his passing affected me deeply. God bless, coach. I'll miss you.
