Bob Nygaard

Great teacher, mentor and friend.

I'm sad to hear about Mr. Nygaard. He was a wonderful Band teacher and I was very glad to have him for my band teacher for my freshmen year and his last year at Apple Valley high... He will be very missed... Connie (Bowman) Hattendorf

I regret that I was not able to attend the memorial service, but my thoughts and prayers are with the Nygaard family. I'm an alumnus of the 1970 - 1974 J.F. Kennedy (Barstow) Band of the Black Beret. I'm a band director now but 'a poor attempt to imitate the man, I'm just a living legacy to the leader of the band.' From me, my brother Chris, and my sister Lena, thank you Mr. Nygaard for imparting so much into us. Save me a spot in the saxophone section in heaven.

Mr. Nygaard, you will be missed. You will always be among the most respected people in my life. I treasure my experiences in band(1986-1990), that only you could have made happen and for that I thank you.

To the family, I want to extend my condolences to you and thank you for allowing us to be a part of his services. Everything was so well done and the thoughts and words from his kids were so heartwarming. I pray for your peace and comfort during this time. Your dad was a treasure.

Mr. Nygaard had dreamed of the day when the band would be bestowed such an incredible gift as to have a room that truly accommodated our needs. In 1986 the band moved into our new bandroom at AVHS. I am sorry for your loss & the loss to the community. Your dad was a great man that I was lucky to meet in 1966. Though I did not get to spend much time with him , we remained good friends. We had a ball when we did his play " Buckskin Bride ". He will be missed by many.

To the Nygaard family, I knew him as a band director attending school at apple valley in 79 to 82. God must have needed a band director and pulled a real good one. Glad to know he was a christian and soon we will hear his directing again. Maybe he will be at the helm of the band assuring in the second coming of christ. Bob you were a master. Bless the family.

TO THE NYGAARD FAMILY, I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR OF MR. NYGAARD'S PASSING. MR. NYGAARD WAS A GREAT MAN I PLAYED IN THE BAND WITH HIM FROM 1993-1997.
