Not sure what to say?

Great teacher, mentor and friend.

I'm sad to hear about Mr. Nygaard. He was a wonderful Band teacher and I was very glad to have him for my band teacher for my freshmen year and his last year at Apple Valley high... He will be very missed... Connie (Bowman) Hattendorf

I regret that I was not able to attend the memorial service, but my thoughts and prayers are with the Nygaard family. I'm an alumnus of the 1970 - 1974 J.F. Kennedy (Barstow) Band of the Black Beret. I'm a band director now but 'a poor attempt to imitate the man, I'm just a living legacy to the leader of the band.' From me, my brother Chris, and my sister Lena, thank you Mr. Nygaard for imparting so much into us. Save me a spot in the saxophone section in heaven.

Mr. Nygaard, you will be missed. You will always be among the most respected people in my life. I treasure my experiences in band(1986-1990), that only you could have made happen and for that I thank you.

To the family, I want to extend my condolences to you and thank you for allowing us to be a part of his services. Everything was so well done and the thoughts and words from his kids were so heartwarming. I pray for your peace and comfort during this time. Your dad was a treasure.

Mr. Nygaard had dreamed of the day when the band would be bestowed such an incredible gift as to have a room that truly accommodated our needs. In 1986 the band moved into our new bandroom at AVHS. Upon this joyous occasion; Mr. Nygaard began to convey some life long lessons to his band. We had arrived at this point through much toil, generocity and sacrifices made by many others who had gone before us. Mr. Nygaard feared that we would forget the cost that was paid for such a gift. He...

To The Nygaard Family,
As the years pass since I was a student at AVHS from 81-83, you truly learn to value and cherish the wisdom and character that your father possessed. To look back now, it was really an honor to have had the opportunity to be his student, and afterwards a friend. Ironically he knew where I lived in Apple Valley and often if he seen me doing some yard work while driving by, would stop and chat with me for a few moments - continuing to take an interest in my personal...

Scott,Tom,Mark,Jaynie & families,
I am sorry for your loss & the loss to the community. Your dad was a great man that I was lucky to meet in 1966. Though I did not get to spend much time with him , we remained good friends. We had a ball when we did his play " Buckskin Bride ". He will be missed by many.
God bless you all,
Dave & Debbie Parker

To the Nygaard family, I knew him as a band director attending school at apple valley in 79 to 82. God must have needed a band director and pulled a real good one. Glad to know he was a christian and soon we will hear his directing again. Maybe he will be at the helm of the band assuring in the second coming of christ. Bob you were a master. Bless the family.

TO THE NYGAARD FAMILY, I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR OF MR. NYGAARD'S PASSING. MR. NYGAARD WAS A GREAT MAN I PLAYED IN THE BAND WITH HIM FROM 1993-1997.
