Not sure what to say?

Think of Bob on occasion and miss our conversations. He was a friend since grade school and I so miss his remarkable stories. He is truly missed! Denise Hakal Dempsey, Atlanta

Bob was the most annoying, tenacious, and thorough reporter I ever met. He never gave up looking for answers. He is missed by the rest of Alaska's press corps because he would ask the questions they would never dare to ask.

He covered Alaska politics, and particularly fisheries news and politics, better than anyone else. Alaska's fishing industry has lost a great advocate.

Today I learned of Bob's passing. I found his name in the OU alumni in-memorium section and was shocked and saddened.
We reconnected by email in March 2014. I so regret that I didn't try to refresh our friendship sooner. He was a unique and quality individual.
Prayers and my sincerest condolences to his family.

Bob and I were grade school classmates and lost touch until the past 5 years. We rekindled our friendship from the PJ annual holiday gathering and stayed in touch since. Bob shared much with me and I so admired his career accomplishments. He often invited me to Alaska and unfortunately, did not have the pleasure of vacationing their with him as my personal tour guide. I was trying to reach him recently about our annual get together, when I learned of his passing. i was quite taken back...

As an old friend of Bob's, I was asked if I knew what happened to Bob. (We were classmates from 1962-1974, from junior high through Ohio U graduation, and also visited one another later, with Bob even letting me stay on his sailboat "The Cossack" in Juneau's Aurora Marina. That summer we sailed, boated, hiked on glaciers, touched neon blue icebergs, saw wild Alaskan bears, mt. goats, seals, whales, eagles galore, totem poles, etc. Anyhow ...
Here is my answer: Do I know what happened to...

You and your family are in our Prayers

I am a classmate of Bob's from JMH. Despite having no contact since graduation, I vividly remember his great sense of humor. Sending my thoughts and prayers. Pattie Jo Butler
