Bobbie Jean Stiles

I graduated with Bobbie from Hellertown High School in 1966. Bobbie was in many of my classes. She was very bright and a great person. In the last 10 years or so, I have enjoyed having Christmas brunch with Bobbie and 2 other high school friends: Carol (Holloway) Tomasch and Debbie (Fehr) Savitske. I was fortunate to be able to attend Bobbie's memorial service on April 30. I will miss Bobbie (and her humor!) very much!!

Bobbie, my roommate senior year at Otterbein, was one of the wittiest, smartest people I have known. I know she would want someone from the community who loved Bobbie to adopt her cat Cornell, sadly left behind.

Bobbie Stiles was a great woman. A teacher of great wit, intellect and compassion. Bobbie had a keen appreciation of others, and she was a wonderful story-teller. We at SVHS got to hear her version of the musical Titanic long before Broadway thought of it. She was our Poet Laureate, our Queen of Good Humor and our beloved friend. Missing her will be very difficult. Remembering her will give us warm and golden moments. Bobbie we love you!

Ms. Stiles taught my 11th grade english class. She was such a nice teacher with a great sense of humor. She loved showing us movies and the most distinct memory I have of her is of watching The Last of the Mohicans and she kept saying that she was the future Mrs. Daniel Day Lewis. May the Lord bless her.

I was shocked to hear about Ms. Stiles. She's the teacher who wouldn't let me slide by on the minimum, who made me take notes, who began my appreciation for American Literature as a worthy genre in itself. I still remember when the boys' baseball team all dyed their hair bright yellow. Ms. Stiles walked to the the front of the classroom and asked, "Would the real slim shady please stand up?" And everyone died laughing. I still rememeber the books I read and the books I ended up re-reading...

Bobbie was my roommate at Otterbein our Junior year. We have kept in touch and gone on many vacations together over the years. All of her friends from Otterbein will truly miss her. We loved her like a sister.

I taught with Bobbie at Broughal and will always remember what a delightful person she was. She was greatly missed when she left. Appreciated her wit, charm, and quest for and sharing of knowledge.
