With a sad heart I stand at the position of attention and render a SALUTE to Booby L. (1 each). I served with Bobbly L. in multiple leadership roles for years in the 82nd Signal Bn. He was an excellent soldier, trooper and friend. A gentle giant, a quiet storm of a man who will be truly missed. A phenomenal man, friend and brother-in-arms. Big hearted, kind, funny, caring soul who always made time for everyone. We served together at Ft. Gordon, Georgia and shared many enlightening conversations and laughs. I am in disbelief and my heart aches from this great loss. The world needs more Bobby Cooks. Sending my condolences to his family and friends; I pray you find peace and strength in the knowledge that he touched numerous lives in such a positive light. I will miss him dearly.

I had the privilege of serving with Bobby in Alpha Company, 82nd Signal Battalion from 1990 to 1993. Bobby was always a Soldier I looked up to as a mentor. He didn’t know he was a mentor, he always did the right thing, always improved his foxhole by making himself a better Soldier and leader, and I admired his quiet, calm demeanor in a unit that demanded a lot from her Soldiers.
