Not sure what to say?

We from Madero feel sorry about what happen August 16,2002.

What can possibly be said about Bert that each of us doesn't already know? That he was generous to a fault? That he would do anything, at any time for almost anyone? That he was soft-spoken and never threatening, or that he was fun to be around? Not once in all the time that I've known Bert did I ever see him outwardly angry.

John Dykes, the 17th century composer said, "Our deeds follow us, and what we have been makes us what we are." This is certainly true of...

On behalf of the Buratto family, I would like to thank all those who have expressed their kind thoughts about Bert, and who have extended their sympathy and prayers to our family. The eulogy written and presented by Susan Belligio Wunder follows:

With a lifetime spanning half a century, one has to expect to shed great rivrs of tears at parting . . . and so we grieve. . . deep and sorrowful mourning.

Reflecting back, I remember as a child . . . my heart just about beting...

On behalf of the Buratto family, we would like to thank all those who have expressed their kind thoughts about Bert and have extended their sympathies and prayers to our family. We would like to share the eulogy delivered by Susan Belligio Wunder, Bert's niece.

"I am delivering this tribute to Bert on behalf of my cousins, Bud and Bridget Evans, Joe and Jim Barrera, my brother, Fred Belligio, and sister, Cheryl, all of whom have a similar story of their own.

With a...

There are no adequate words to describe the impact Bert had on my life as his co-worker at Madero Middle School. He was often the first smiling face I would see in the morning as I arrived to work. If I were lucky, later that day I'd enjoy a hearty laugh as Bert told one of his tasteful jokes. To say I miss him already (even though our school is out for summer) is a great understatement. He made my day while he was here, so I'm sure heaven is enjoying its latest arrival.

My deepest condolences to the Buratto family at your time of loss.
Bert was a co-worker of mine at the U.S. Custom House. As well as being extremely knowledgeable of his profession, he was a wonderful friend. I can fondly remember breaking from work to have coffee with Bert and Herman McAdams. We would exchange stories of work and family.
To Bonnie, Jane, and Katie; your father spoke often and proudly of all of your accomplishments. He truly loved all of you very much.
And to...

Bert Buratto cared deeply about his school: "Madero Middle School" located at 3202 W. 28th street in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood. Madero was blessed the day Bert was chosen for our school. There could have been no better fit. Bert was far more than the building engineer. He taught the students to respect their school. He did this through hard work and daily involvement with the students. Every fall, the incoming 6th grade under Mr. Buratto's supervision gathered brooms, rakes,...

I was so shocked at the news about Bert. I spoke to him just a few weeks ago by phone. As you know we had a long standing friendship from our days at the Custom House. I will miss him and his "turkey" Thanksgiving call.

I am terribly saddened to learn of the news of Bert's passing. In the short time that Bert touched my life, I thought of hime as a warm and kind person. My thoughts and prayers go out to Bert's wife Paddy and family.
