On May 31, 2016 Boyd Newton Covington started the final part of the life cycle which is eternity with God. He was born in the Hugo area on 1/31/1949 to parents Marvin(Dee) Covington and Connie Covington who have passed into eternity. He was 67 years and 4 months old. There were three other children born to these parents. David Covington, a younger brother was waiting in heaven when Boyd arrived. Betty(Covington,Dickson) Westmoreland (Husband, Jim) and Bonnie Covington are the only survivors of the above Union. Boyd lived most of his first 21 years with Papa and or Granny Covington until Granny died in 1970. Then he lived with his dad and Beverly until 4/2007 when Marvin(Dee) Covington died. At that time Boyd and his sister Bonnie went to live with Betty(Sis) and Big Jim as Boyd called him. His life with Betty and Jim was a drastic change from previous resident. He was treated with respect. He was cleaned up and made a nice looking man. He liked to wear his sun glasses and Fedora. He loved going to town and shopping at Sams. He liked having money in his billfold but never wanting to spending it. He would wave to all the people he met. Boyd was mentally challenged from birth but he had so much knowledge that was never discovered. He didn't carry on conversation but would mostly answer with one word. At times he would say something that would amaze those around him that he knew that. Boyd is perfect now. Boyd loved listening to country music. He liked Diamond on KITX his favorite radio station. He knew who was singing a song when asked. He enjoyed the simple things like sitting on the patio with sunglasses and hat on, listening to radio and watching and waving to people coming and going down the road. He liked watching truck commercials on tv and would say that he liked the guys making the pitch. He especially liked Rocky. He'd say 'I like Rocky'. When Boyd came to live with Sis and Big Jim he came out of his shell and learned that he was loved. He learned to hug and be hugged. He loved his nephews and nieces and the great nephews and great nieces. He was nervous with the little children. A little pat on the head when coaxed was close enough for him. Extended family members that Boyd spent a lot of time were Bettys' children and grandchildren: Johnny, Catherine and Joanna Dickson Jamie, Heather, Tanner, Zack and Ethan Dickson Kashia Anderson, Tabor, Rilee and Liam Ribera There was lots of laughter and fun times in the last 9 years. He was a blessing to all lives he touched. Boyd had a special fondness for Steven Ribera(Partner), Robin Robertson , Sunday School teacher Stanley Pope and his very favorite Big Jim Westmoreland. Jim was very good to him and was a lot of help to Sis in his care. Jim could make him belly laugh at times. They had a very good relationship. Boyd would never let Jim kiss him but Jim got the last one in on him by finally giving him that kiss. He was loved and will be missed. Rest in peace my dear Brother.
