Worldly Interests
Boyd Gatton moved to the United States in 1992 and was still discovering new interests. An operations officer at Fiduciary Trust who was born in Paget, Bermuda, he spent his free time practicing tai chi in the park near his home in Jersey City, doing carpentry work, reading and indulging his nieces when they visited from Bermuda with his two sisters.

"He just spoiled them to death," said his sister Pauline O'Connor, who has learned what kind of an impression her brother left on people while she has been settling his affairs.

He was the type of person who could walk into a store and leave with a new friend, like Wilfred Garcia, a photographer who works at a camera shop in Jersey City. "Not only was he interested in photography," Mr. Garcia said, "but just about anything in the world."
