Boyd, or Zoid as we all knew him by here in the upper Midwest was an incredible stage presence. If you never had the opportunity to see him live, you missed an incredible musician.I am speaking about his days with The...Vers. He played at a rock club here in my hometown called The Circle Lounge. Great guy and his band "The...Vers" was legendary in the Midwest. I'll always remember Boyd (dressed as Zoid Asteroid Machine) with knee pads, hair done up like a Star Trek alien, sliding across the stage on his knees and standing on top of his amp like a rock god playing his Fender Mustang or Dean V guitars. Still one of the best live acts I've ever seen and one of my best memories from college. I emailed him years later to purchase a CD, and he was a super nice guy and we reminisced about...

I still think of you often, Boyd. It is sad that the world has to be without you and your talent.

I first met Boyd back in 1975 when Yancy Derringer was playing at the Naval Base in Great Lakes. He was extremely nice to me, took the time to show me how to play songs like, "Bridges" and "Pass The Wine" and never was too busy to talk about guitars, amps and music.
