Brad Banky

AGE: 49 • Houston, TX

Special people do come along and grace our lives. Brad Banky was such a person. We had the joy of knowing, and now the sorrow of losing, this special person.

Over his 49 years, Brad was many things to many people in many places. He jammed a lot into his life and into ours. Born in Chicago, he decided at age four months to move to Morristown, New Jersey to be closer to the world's financial center. First came Morristown High and Virginia Tech before getting on with it on Wall Street, followed by trading roles for major financial companies in Philadelphia, Fort Lee, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, back in Chicago, then Houston, which became home. He made, kept and cherished an army of friends along a road that the ugly C made too short.

Most important to Brad was his family. He leaves his wife Gemma, his two light-up sons Conor and Kevin, his parents, his brother, his nieces and nephews. He joins his beloved big sister, who also left us way too soon.

We who knew him will laugh with and about him. Unlike Brad who never dealt in understatements, we say in understatement we will remember him. He was a special person.

A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Second Baptist Church West Campus with Rev. Keith Carmichael officiating. Those wishing to make memorial gifts may do so to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486.

Not sure what to say?

I drove past your house today, remembering the fun of our time together as kids. The famous falling off the roof incident on Ellsworth, pillow fight competition at MHS, and the weekends spent on Jonathan Smith. You were a great friend to me and memories of those days always make me smile. Your charisma was unmatched, you were the king of our class, and I was always honored that you accepted me as a friend, I am better for having known you and think of you often. Rest in Peace my friend.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I just learned tonight, 10/19/22, of Brad's passing. I worked with Brad in Fort Lee. I remember his love of music and going with other friends to see his band play. His smile was always welcoming and kind. Please know that Brad was missed tonight by two old friends who remember him fondly.

Hey Pal,

Hard to believe its been three years. Crazy. Seems like you were just here. Think of you every day buddy.

Tell you this much - you have one helluva family. You would be proud.

Miss ya pal.

Can't believe he's gone! He was a good friend to me when we were young and I remember him like it was yesterday. RIP Bardo!

Thinking of you and your family during this holiday season.

Miss ya pal.
