Bradley Aaron (Smalls) Schmidt, 20, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2009. He was born on November 29, 1988, in Roanoke and was the son of Mark Schmidt and Karen Dowdy Schmidt. Bradley loved being adventurous, skateboarding, and music. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Justin Schmidt; maternal grandparents, Allan and Nancy Dowdy; paternal grandmother, Ruth McCown; paternal grandfather, Mickey Schmidt; aunt, Susan Parr and husband, Don; uncles, Minister Scott Schmidt and wife, Michelle, and David Schmidt and wife, Diane; girlfriend, Susan Barksdale; and numerous cousins and friends. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2009, in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son with the Reverend John Furman and Minister Scott Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, from 5 to 7 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. The Schmidt family is being served by John M. Oakey & Son, Salem, Va., 540-389-5441.

I never was able to see much of you after I left Roanoke. I spent almost everyday with you and your brother Justin, Mark and Karen for 5 years from 95'-2000' . We were just a bunch of crazy young kids at that time. I remember getting you into skateboarding, and going to Wasena Salem skatepark. We used to run around Roanoke city boarding also, they were such great times. We used to run around North Lakes at night lighting fireworks off and terrorizing the hood. :) You...
