     Mrs. Brenda Joyce Boyd, age 70, a resident of Pinetown, NC died Sunday February 6, 2022 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.


     A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Five Points Free Will Baptist Church in Pinetown.  The service will be officiated by Pastor Joseph Hall.  Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.  Jamie Boyd, Todd Boyd, Thomas Biggs, Fred Tetterton, Darren Harris, Brandon Harris, Braxton Boyd, and Noah Johnson will serve as pallbearers.


     The family will receive friends 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church and other times at the home


     Mrs. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on September 5, 1951, daughter of the late E. Gordon Boyd and the late Mary Belle Waters Boyd.  She was a graduate of Bath High School.  On June 23, 1974 she married Mark Boyd.  Mrs. Boyd loved her family and served them as a homemaker.  She was a charter member of Five Points Free Will Baptist Church where she played the piano and organ for fifty-four years and was a clerk for the church for thirty-five years.  At her church Mrs. Boyd was a member of NCFWB Women Active for Christ, she also served the Pamlico District as secretary for twenty-four years and as president for eight years.  In her community she served on the board of directors for the Pinetown Volunteer Vol. Fire Dept. where she was also active in the Ladies Auxiliary.  Mrs. Boyd served her community further as a volunteer at Marion Shepard Cancer Center and Vidant Beaufort Hospital.  Her hobbies included cooking, quilting, reading, and playing the piano.


     Surviving along with her husband, Mark, of the home are her children: Karen Joyce Boyd of New Bern and Adrian Mark Boyd (Heather) of Pinetown; brothers: James Neal Boyd (Kerry) and Larry Gordon Boyd (Sandra) all of Pinetown; a sister: Alva Nell McCall of Roper and Nana to three grandchildren: Sydney Belle Boyd, Wade Tucker Boyd, and Mollie Katherine Boyd.


     In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, c/o Patient Assistance Fund, 1209 Brown Street, Washington, NC 27889 or to Pinetown Volunteer Fire Department, Ladies Auxiliary, 7262 North Boyd Road, Pinetown, NC 27865.

Mrs Brenda was always , so sweet and caring. She was a blessing at the cancer center, she always took care of my Dad when he was there. She will be missed!

I am so very sorry to hear about Brenda. I know all of you are hurting. You all were a close family.i pray God will heal the pain in your heart. God has a reason for all He does and it's not for us to question.
