Waterford- Brenda Floyd, 68, of Waterford, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018.


She was born on September 5, 1950, in New London, the daughter of Joseph P. and Emily E. (Simmons) Coleman.


Brenda retired as a mess attendant at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy where she had worked for 35 years.


She was married James W. Floyd of Waterford. He survives her.


A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington Street, New London. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New London.

I was so sorry to hear of Brenda's passing,My deepest sympathy to her family, Brenda and my husband worked together at the Coast Guard mess hall,where they became close friends.Then one day when I picked my husband up from work he was outside talking to Brenda and when we saw each other she hugged me and she told him she knew me longer then he did,We went to school together.
I will truly miss her. Rest in peace my friend.

To the Coleman and Floyd Families, I condole with you in the transitioning of your dear,sweet, beloved, Brenda.She and James were a beautiful couple, amongst the few that I know of that were married the longest. I will always remember her as one with a genuine smile ,and sincerely kind words, whenever we encountered one another. She leaves a legacy of love to all of us, and will be very much missed.
