Brenda Wilson Tyler, 66, of Wilmington passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2009 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in Wilmington on April 28, 1943. Remembered are her father Ernest Wilson, her maternal grandparents, Carl A. and Mabel L. Misenheimer who preceded her in death. Brenda was a lifelong member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, where she played the organ for 27 years. She was a graduate of New Hanover High School and worked for W. R. Grace, later PCS Nitrogen until her retirement. Brenda is survived by her mother, Vera M. Wilson; her husband of 22 years, Raymond L. Tyler; one daughter, Dawn G. Benton and husband Matt and grandchildren, Corey and Logan. Four step children, Keith Tyler, Angela Tyler, Tony Tyler and wife Chrissy and children, Thomas, Daniel, and Adam, and Gina Smith and children, Samuel and Taylor. One sister, Joy Southerland and husband Tom; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A celebration of life ceremony will be 1 pm Friday, September 25, 2009 at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiated by Rev. Sam Zumwalt. There will be a reception and visitation for family and friends following the service at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. The family will be gathering at the home of her mother, 201 Bermuda Dr., Wilmington. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Organ Fund, 612 S.
