Brent Bolden Howell

Obituary

HOWELL, Brent Bolden, 50-year-old husband of Vicki Tunstall Howell, died on Sunday, December 14, 2008 in Nashville, Tenn. after a courageous 2-year battle with ALS. In addition to his wife, surviving him are: daughter, Mikaela; son, Parker; parents, Betty Ann and Robert Howell of Richmond, Virginia; sister, Brenda and Robert Proffitt of Denver, Colorado; and 11 nieces and nephews. Brent grew up in Virginia and graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked as an engineer with DuPont for 28 years and loved his job. Truly an engineer and handyman at heart, Brent was also very busy with the numerous home projects he loved, whether it was painting, improving the house, or mowing the lawn he was always doing something. His family remembers every day when he came home he would immediately change his clothes and begin working on his latest project. Brent also loved cars and as recently as a few weeks ago, he was excited about the "spoiler" his wife had purchased for his birthday which he installed immediately. Brent was a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ, and he and his family were members of Peoples Church in Franklin, Tenn. where they also attended Sunday school. Brent was devoted to his family and whenever possible, would attend his son's basketball games whether in or out of town as well as his daughter's soccer tournaments and school activities. Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Harpeth Hills Memory Garden, Nashville, Tenn.
This obituary was originally published in the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Not sure what to say?

It was with great sadness that I learned of Brent's passing this morning. Having grown up off of Jahnke Road I have known Brent since childhood. Our last names were alphabetically close so we were always in homeroom together and assigned lockers just a few down from one another. We shared many laughs throughout the years. Brent is a class act, a kind and warm person who always started each day with his trademark contagious smile.

I am so sorry for your loss. My heart and prayers...

Terri and Scot Moore are still living in my house on Brentmoor Dr. She called to let me know about Brent and so did Jeff this moring. We still remember you as good neighbors and feel for your loss. My love to you and the family. Betty Camden Palmer
