I got to know Brent through working on a national committee that reviewed forester certification. He was very dedicated to the profession of forestry and to foresters. He especially got a spark in his eye when he talked about fire. Brent was a great guy and I am very sorry to hear about his passing. i am glad i got to know him in the last few years.

I did not know Brent well, my daughters swim for the Columbus YMCA team. It was obvious how much he cared for and was respected by the kids on his team. He was always encouraging everyone, regardless of team they were on, to do their best. My deepest sympathies go out to the Barracudas and especially his family. Brent touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

Brent was a dedicated forester to Iowa forests especially the Loess Hills State Forest. His efforts led to the building of the Visitor Center, Overlook and thousands of acres that will bring joy to future Iowans. He was one of the first to bring prescribed fire as a management tool to recreate prairies and savanna ecotypes. Loess Hills SF is his writing on the landscape forever. I was proud to be his colleague.

So sorry to hear this. Mr. Olson was always very helpful when we had questions about anything involving nature. He was a great man all around. My prayers go out to your family.
