I did not know PFC. Brian Backus, but my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. I thank him for serving in our country's military.

We know we are late entering this message, but we just wanted you to know that your family have been in our prayers. Our son is Michael Hankins. He told us that he was happy to be able to meet you and talk with you at the memorial service at Fort Drum. He thought a lot of Brian. Mike has just joined the others in Afghanistan and we know he will keep the memory of his friend close at heart. May peace be with you now and always.

We are so sorry for your loss. My nephew Dale Pennington who lives in Ontario, Canada met Brian before he was deployed and it seems that they really "connected". I can only say that Brian must have been a really wonderful person to make such an impact on the people he met in Canada. Please accept our sympathy.
