Not sure what to say?

brian was and is the best uncle anyone could ever ask for and the best cribbage partner too. even though he "accidentally" cheated almost every game...he will always be one of my favorite people in the world. i love you brian.

I knew Brian as opposing counsel. He was an effective advocate for his client. My condolences to your family.

Brian was coffee and music and running and wine. He was painting the living room and mowing the wall and helping us move and going out to dinner. He was swimming, sledding, diving, Grand Old Days, Grandma's, Get In Gear, and the North Shore. He was peanuts and chips and passion fruit sorbet. He was tricks on the trampoline and playing outside and all about Wellstone. He was local politics and activism and 50 Things You Can Do to Save the Earth. He was Uncle Brian. And I miss him.

he was a great uncle and i'll miss him very much :(

I will always remember Brian as a kind and gentle man who was a wonderful uncle to my best friend. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
With love,

To The Bates Family,

I had noticed Brian's absence at this cycle of DFL conventions and am so sorry to learn of his death. It was so much fun to work with Brian over the years and I will really miss him.
My condolences to the family. You will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Brian, you left us too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with Barb, her family, Bob and his family. I am glad we were related.

What we remember most about Brian are his strong ideals and his delightful and dry wit. We will miss his gentlemanly good grace and humor. Godspeed, Brian.
