Not sure what to say?

1972-cuz my guitarist can't play the gig...,cbc says you'll have to sing with the Brian Browne Trio!!!! Oh no!! I had no idea!!!

I was deeply saddened to learn of Brian's passing. I first met Brian at Lauzon Music in January 2003, where he was teaching piano. Brian and Ken Lauzon (on guitar) played a song together in the showroom... a private concert for me! I was blown away. Shortly after that I learned from my parents, who have been jazz fans all their lives, that Brian would sit with them between his sets when he played at a restaurant in Waterloo. In 2010 he delivered one of his DVDs (autographed of course) to my...

Brian was truly one of the coolest guy I ever met. He was a long term client of mine and always brightened my day with a quick joke when he showed up wearing his trademark blue sunglasses. He had a penchant for werthers and deliberately left his glasses behind or pretended to just so he could squirrel away another handful of candies from the waiting area. Brian used to play at our home parties at Christmas, as well as tuned my pianos. After he finished tuning the piano he would always stay and play, I got my own private concert. My favorite song would be his rendition of Scarborough Fair! Will miss you Brian.

I took several jazz piano tutorials with Brian - probably the most memorable mentorship I've ever had in any musical idiom. Each 1 hour lesson ran nearly three hours. His style, knowledge and, most acutely, his incisive humour remain vividly with me. Somewhere, I have recordings of those lessons and I'll be studying with Brian for a long while yet.

Rest well, my friend.
