Not sure what to say?

I was friends with Brian at Patch Barracks and we shared some adventures together. Today I had the honor of welcoming 50 new U.S. Citizens. The first official act for new citizens after they take the Oath is to say the Pledge of Allegiance. Today, we dedicated our Pledge of Allegiance to the Memory and Honor of Brian and the service he gave to the United States of America.

While surfing social media this evening I remembered a guy I knew named Brian Danis. Trying to locate him I found this Obituary and Memorial. I am sorry to learn that he has passed away. We spent a few years as friends growing up on Patch Barracks in Stuttgart Germany. Both sons of Air Force officers we palled around in Scouts, school, hobbies and mischief. We ran into each other a few times later in life since we had both gone into service with the Army. Smart, funny and dedicated, rest in...

Danis was a good troop to me. A great RTO. He would periodically appear out of nowhere and visit with me for a few hours. I never was able to get his contact info, but he always seemed to be able to find me. I enjoyed our visits, and listening to his latest exploits and Library of Congress research. I last saw him in 2013 (I think), shortly after I retired. I have for years now expected him to just show up sometime. That won't happen anymore, and it saddens me some. I suppose it will...

A true friend a brother and great example to all Love you bro! See ya soon! J

Brian served in my Plt in Afghanistan in 2008, OEF, Task Force Phoenix VII; he was the consummate soldier. He once organized, through relief agencies, a walker device for a local child so that he could ambulate. I believe this was a life altering event for this child; we (the USA) made a positive impact that day. It was my honor to serve with him, I am glad to have known him. SFC ret. Thomas W Deis, 27th BCT, 2/108 Inf Bn, D Co, 3rd Plt.

I will pray for Brian.A humble, quiet, professional.Truly a remarkable man who taught me much when we served together.I miss our fine conversations

A Company, 3/325, 82nd Airborne, 1983.

Brian, J. Bart Warren, and I arrived at A Co. 3/325 ABN INF on the same day. We were assigned to the same platoon, and formed a bond as the "cherries" of the platoon. Brian and I also shared something else in common. We were both the sons of Air Force Officers. He was a good friend and brother-in-arms. I have often thought of him over the years and shared my stories of him with my children. Rest in Peace Danis!

I served with Brian in the 3rd Platoon, A co 3/325th before, during and after Grenada. He was a good friend and a great soldier. RIP, Brother, Airborne!
