Simply the Best. In God's capable hands! We miss you! We look forward to seeing you again

Fr. Egan officiated my wedding at St. Paul´s in 1979. My husband, a Catholic from St. Louis, and I were not members of the church but wished to be married in a Catholic Church.l am Protestant. Fr. Egan was so very accommodating. What I remember most, as a young bride, is that he insisted that our families join us as we said our vows. Our parents stood with us as we were married. Also, his liturgy, was beautiful. He chose to expound on Roberta Flack´s, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face". It...

He was an integral part of our family...I "inherited" him when I married into the Raine family whose matriarch, Antoinette Raine, was a devoted friend and follower of the faith. He married my wife, Alana Marie Raine, and I nearly 40 years ago and helped with my transition into the Catholic faith----we named our first child, Brianna after and in honor of him. RIP Monsignor !

Uncle James, today is daddy's birthday and I just know you two are celebrating up there. I often come to your page as well as Nan nans each year to remember he has the best accompanying him in heaven as well as his dad! You impacted our entire family and I'm eternally grateful, your soft spoken words and touch were always so pure and serene to me. Please continue to look over all of us, thank you for paving the way in our family and showing us how much God truly loves us. Reading your...

Father Egan I feel very blessed having had you in my life. You were a huge piss in my families spiritual upbringing. You baptized my children and treated them with love and warmth always. I will miss your kind spirit and sincere smile. You felt like a second father me and to all of my brothers and sisters. We will always love you. Judy

Uncle James I'm comforted and feel both joy and happiness that I was able to spend quality time with you, not only during my younger years, but especially at the end of your life. I am happy that you are now with those close family members and friends who have departed. You now have peace and can share and spend time with those souls who we miss here on earth. Thank you for everything you did for me and my family, especially my mother. You were good to everyone and we will always be...

Msgr. Egan enjoyed a good party. As a member of St. Bernard Parish my family enjoyed his good humor as well as his spiritual involvment with the whole parish family. We were family! Pat Blum (Birmingham, AL)

When I was younger my family was a part of St. Bernard Parish. Father Egan was & will always be a very special part of our family. The Dickies will truly miss him.

Over 52 years ago Msgr. Egan married my wife Pat and I at Sacred Heart Church in Cullman. After being a student at St. Bernard, Fr. Brian (he called me Joe because I reminded him of an old friend) has been an advisor and friend of our family even though we lived out of the Birmingham area. We maintained contact with him and a few years ago he officiated in the marriage of our daughter who is a Homewood resident. He was a great priest and spiritual advisor to those who knew him. As others...
