The last climb I did with Brian was in the '90s, it was typical of his passion: The Squaw Rock on Indian Ridge in the Smith Rock area. It's the highest rock pinnacle on the skyline looking like an errant thumb as you drive on 97 past Smith. Probably hadn't been climbed in years. A grueling hike up a steep slope to the base, then an easy low 5th class lead to the top. We put in new bolts for the rap off. I miss Brian and his lust for the unusual. RIP

I have many great memories of working with Brian at Fred Meyer. Smart, funny, and ever the professional, he was always generous with his friendship, sage advice, and a story to bring a smile. He holds a special place in my heart and memories. My condolences to Sue and all of Brian´s family and friends. Rest in peace Brian.
