It is with deep love and profound sadness that I share the peaceful passing of my brother, Brian Byron Howard, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 52 years, following a long battle with early-onset dementia. While frontotemporal degeneration (FTD) took much from him, it couldn’t take his tender spirit. As his sister and guardian, it was the greatest honor of my life to ensure he was content and cared for during his final journey, continuing to experience the things he enjoyed, and was surrounded by love.
Brian was the son of James and Carol Howard, also cherished by his “other mothers” Kathy Casey and Barbara Page. He is survived by children Brian, Brent, Blake, and Morgan; former wife Heather Scarpace Howard; sisters Leah (Robert) Payant and Loretta Howard; brother James (Miranda) Howard; nephews Daryl Larson, Kobe and Kaden Howard; nieces Karlee and Aubri Howard; and great-niece Jasmin Murphy.
He was a gentle giant with a kind heart, deeply devoted to his family. Brian loved to sing and had a passion for all Wisconsin sports--cheering on the Packers, Bucks, Brewers, and Badgers. He found joy in spending time with his family, hosting get-togethers/cookouts, and working in his yard. Although dementia changed his journey, it did not diminish his desire to worship Jesus, and only intensified his love of music. He will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (www.theaftd.org).
