Not sure what to say?

I was President of the Glee Club at Nobles my senior year 68-69. It was a time of change in society and Brian's energy was a breath of fresh air. He always said "why not" instead of "why". Brian was a very talented, supportive teacher and his love of his craft was infectious. I am not at his funeral today, but my brother Nat , who has much stronger ties to Brian than I, is there. I am sure it will be a epic. Don Watson Nobles '69

Just a few minutes ago I was engrossed - listening to Brian's A Choral Christmas while preparing our home for our Christmas party, when "Personent hodie" filled my kitchen with its majesty. Singing alone (as one does when no one is around to hear) as soon as I reached its classic chorus phrasing - "Id-e-o-o-o" - I was instantly transported by the third "-o" to Lawrence Auditorium performing this hymn, Brian Jones leading us at a Nobles Christmas concert. Flooded by memory and gratitude, I...

I was so sad to learn of Brian's passing. He was my choral teacher at Nobles and his enthusiasm sparked my love for music and singing. I loved running into him after graduation and was touched by his genuine capacity to remember those high school years. He had the best smile! I am all in for the rip roaring celebration of his life. Sending love to his family and partner.

I just today 12/14 learned of Brian's passing and was shocked and saddened. He was an extraordinarily talented musician. He was no stuffy academic and this was evident in both his organ playing and singing of his chorus. We cherish his Trinity Christmas CD's and listen to them each Christmas season. I certainly want to attend the rip-roaring spring memorial event that is being planned. My sympathy to his partner and to his children. Everybody loved Brian!!!

Sorry to hear about Brian Jones´s passing and to have stumbled on his obituary. No matter of how people receive me or perceive my perspective, may I pay tribute to Brian whom I knew as a child and as an adult - a man with a warm heart, scholarly and paternal presence, and a thoughtful and formidable musical talent. He did not bury his talent but saw that it flourished also in other people and church and civic settings. If my memory serves me correctly, he served as organist for a memorial...

Brian joined the Nobles community when I was a freshman. He immediately brought a passion and infectious enthusiasm to the Glee Club, which made our weekly rehearsals and periodic concerts fun and enjoyable for singers and audiences alike. He continued to stay in touch with our class during many reunions over the years. I remember one in particular where he delighted in driving his antique sports car (which he called "Lydia," as I recall) to the party, and sharing his love of cars with all...

he taught me music at nobles! i was there between fall of 1964 and spring of 1968. he was a great teacher and an equally fine person.
