Not sure what to say?

This is a poem that Brian's Grandma wrote to him for his high school graduation.

How pleased that God did bless us one day so long ago
He gave to us a grandson!
More precious to us than gold.

It seems like only yesterday
that we carried you in our arms
I pray that God will watch over you
and keep you safe from harm.

Now you're grown and a fine man you are to me
Stay close to God and his teachings
and he will watch over...

Brian, I'll never forget playing trumpet on that Java Dog recording back in '93. The world has been blessed by your poetic soul.

I knew Brian from Olivet College, and while I can't say we were friends I can say I had great respect for him as a person and a musician. I loved hearing him play in jazz band and still listen to some recordings of that and Javadog occasionally. My condolences to his family.

Although I only knew Brian for a few years at Olivet he has always left his impression on my soul. Thank you Brian for all of your genuine compassion and care after my car accident. Your encouragement, kind words, and actions will always be remembered.
My condolences to his family.

I shared a few music classes with Brian at Olivet. He was a very interesting and genuine man, and I'm glad he was a part of my life; if only for a short time. My heart goes out to his family, I will never forget him.

I knew Brian in college. He was friends with some of my friends at Michigan State, and he played in a band called Java Dog with them. He was always such a nice and friendly guy. My condolences to his family.

I thought I saw Brian driving down the street the other day. His legacy lives on in his children and his music. Miss ya, Bud.

I am so sad to hear this news! Brian - you were such a good guy and a real inspiration in the world of music and drums. I missed you already - sad to see you go. -Grant
