BRIAN G. LENHARD, 44, of Wilmington, DE, died suddenly on March 13, 2014. Husband of Melissa Dodds Lenhard, father of Nicholas and Caroline. Also survived by his parents Walter and Susan Lenhard of Villanova, PA, his brother Walter, and nieces Kate and Abby.
Born on April 23, 1969 in Lemorre, CA., Brian graduated from the Episcopal Academy (’87) and Wesleyan University (’91). While working at Continental Life Insurance Company, he earned his MBA from Villanova University (’98). A gifted computer programmer, he founded Grayson Consulting and Lightning Bolt Software. Brian then transitioned from computer code to legal code, graduating from the University of Pennsylvania Law School (’04). He clerked for the Honorable Vice Chancellor Stephen P. Lamb in the Delaware Court of Chancery before becoming a commercial litigator at Skadden, Arps in Wilmington. Brian was an avid proponent of the underprivileged and under-represented; he spent time on pro bono matters, helped with adoption services and children’s literacy programs. He served as General Counsel of Lightning Bolt Software, and he and his wife were two of the founders of LenhardClark Legal Services.
Brian was a devoted father: building Legos, playing football, making crafts, painting toenails, and building snow forts. He loved to play with his dogs and was appreciated for his great pancakes and black & white milkshakes. Brian enjoyed reading, traveling and playing chess, and was enthusiastic about hiking, camping, skiing and sailing.
A Memorial Celebration will be held on Saturday April 5th at the University & Whist Club, 805 North Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19806. Friends and family are invited to stop by between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Delaware Humane Association, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801, Attn: Layne Ross or to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Inc., 26345 Network Place, Chicago, IL 60673-1263.
