I was at my friend Keith Fialcowitz's house in Orange, California when I looked up Brian on the Internet. We were talking about how we enjoyed him and his classes many decades ago. I was stunned when it said that he had passed the month before. I had contacted Brian two years previously and we exchanged emails. I'm shocked and saddened by the passing of Brian Lewis, who guided me in the production of my first 16mm film and got me my first break, ultimately leading to my career as a professor of film at Chapman University. May he rest in peace.
