Not sure what to say?

I served with Dr Schafer in the USAF while stationed at Keesler AFB Cardiology Department. I was the senior enlisted supervisor and Dr Schafer was my boss and medical director. Together as a team we worked closely in the cardiac Cath lab and non-invasive cardiology department, to gel together 20 technicians and several nurses to deliver the best cardiac care in the USAF. It was a joy to scrub cases with Dr Schafer...his professionalism and knowledge was without question...but the best part...

I knew Brian in the Air Force at Keesler AFB in Mississippi. We lived a few houses down and Stason and my daughter, Jordan, were pretty good friends. Brian was such a good doctor and a nice person. We used to talk about how things could be better, from the care of patients in the Air Force to the coming changes in health care with emr's. He was a smart, humble, and caring physician. I'm sure his absence is felt by literally thousands. The good news is his loved ones will one day see him...

It's been over a year, but I learned about it only this morning... I was his patient at St. Mary's for many years. This morning, out of the blue, the image of Dr. Brian Schafer popped up in my mind and prompted internet search...this is how I found out today. I'm sitting here and crying now. It does not feel like he's not here with us any more, on the opposite, he is present and he is among us in his new form. Larissa Popova, Forever grateful patient

It's hard to believe it's been a year. We are thinking of you, and we miss you.

Brian was a great teacher and mentor to his fellow US Air Force Cardiologists. One of the brightest guys I ever met and I've met many. We will miss him!

Dr. Schafer was a caring clinician who took the necessary time to listen and put patients at ease such as myself. I am so very sorry for your loss.

What a wonderful doctor Dr. Schafer was!! He tended to my mom for many years and always had a compliment to start out his time with her. What a blessing! When she was 92, he still found something to say that would spark up her day. Thank you!

Well done good and faithful servant! I am celebrating Dr. Schafer's life. I saw his compassion and kindness and enjoyed his friendship over the years. My faith tells me we will meet again! I am praying for all of us that were blessed to know him
