Not sure what to say?

My heart goes out to you, Polly, and your entire family. He was a great teacher. I am a 1999 graduate of the CIA. I participated in some wine tastings with him, and he proctored an exam for me. I refer to "Exploring Wine" often. Brian was such an inspiration to me. As a chef, the knowledge I derived from his instruction of wines was priceless.

My deepest sympathy to Brian's wife and entire family. Professor Smith was my History and Culture's professor at CIA and I think about him often as I am now a professor myself. His witty words of wisdom often get me through the toughest of days. I now appreciate his demand for excellence. He made me a better teacher.

Our sincere sympathy to you Polly and the girls. We never met but I was very fond of your partner, my cousin, Brian. We had fun together as children. Yours Phil (Brian's cousin) Tracy and family

I would like to convey my sincerest sympathies to Brian's family and friends. I was lucky enough to have Brian as my Wine Professor at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. His enthusiasm and pleasant nature created a wonderful learning experience in which I benefited greatly! I last saw Brian at the Int'l Pinot Noir Celebration in Oregon. He was perfectly in his element, and once again I enjoyed his vast knowledge and passion for wine. My love and appreciation for wine would...

I had the distinct pleasure of spending Thanksgiving with Brian and Polly in St Thomas this year. While Polly and I have a long friendship, I feel so blessed to have spent a few days with Brian. He was so bright, engaging, sensitive and, amazingly, he was so willing to participate in boating and meeting new people--even when I'm sure he didn't feel good enough to do so. What was truly special is the love he showed for my friend, his wife, Polly. It's the kind of love most of us never get to...

I would like to express my sincere and heartfelt condolences to Polly Adema, Lauren and Drew in the loss of your husband and Dad.
Brian and I were good friends in Vancouver, B.C.- we shared a love for the wines of the world. I met Brian in the 80's and we worked many fab wine projects together and shared as many laughs as bottles of wine!!
I cherish his memory and grieve with you. Brian loved life, especially devoted to his family, and was a damn fine wine educator.
I toast...

Hello, I am a stranger but I saw the notice in The Freeman and wanted to express how touched I was by the words I read.
My husband died of Mesothelioma in 2005. My regards to the family, wife Polly and two children.
If I can be of any help now or in the future please contact me. I live in Woodstock, NY and work on a national basis with an asbestos awareness group. Again, my most heartfelt regards to the family, he has a very kind face and I am sorry for the loss.
Bonnie

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.
