It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Bridget Eleanor Merkle, our beloved sister, daughter, niece and friend. She was a beautiful, kind, caring, sweet and loving soul to all who knew her. She is survived by her father Peter Merkle of Atchison, KS, sister Faith Merkle of Atchison KS, brothers Tobias (Julia) Merkle and George Merkle of Solsberry, IN, and Matthew Merkle of Atchison KS, and niece Rosemary and nephew Raphael of Solsberry, IN. She is also survived by her step-mother Jessica Ferris, step-sisters Allison Maude and Julia Huyett, and by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Bridget was born 12/11/94 in Christiansburg, VA to Peter Benedict Merkle and Pamela Vacheron Merkle.
She attended East Mountain High School in Sandia Park, NM, and graduated from St. Augustine High School, FL. She went on to obtain her Associates degree in Art at St John's River State College. A pioneer in NFT digital arts, she was co-founder of the Solana Institute of Art. She was a gifted artist who completed many chalk murals in South Florida, and had the honor of commemorating several civil rights leaders with a large 30-foot permanent mural as part of the Unity Wall for the City of Lake Worth Beach, Florida. She also specialized in portraiture, created multidisciplinary works with a splash of surrealism, and completed numerous commissioned works. Her beautiful pet portraits will be treasured by family for years to come.
There will be a Funeral Mass and Rite of Christian Burial for Bridget on Saturday, September 30th, 2023, at 9 am at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, with burial service to follow at San Lorenzo Cemetery.
A memorial scholarship fund is established at Benedictine College for students pursuing art and medicine.

There was so much more left for you to do. I’m so very sorry that things had to end so soon. It pains me. I wish you peace and rest in the arms of God. You are so missed. May you henceforth be blessed. To the power of pink.
