Brigid Bohan Obituary
Brigid Helen, 65, passed away peacefully from a heart attack at her home in Hackensack on August 15, 2011.
Brigid was the loving partner of Brian Sklar for over 30 years. Born in Chicago, Illinois on July 28, 1946, she was raised in Westwood, NJ and graduated from Westwood High School. She held a bachelor's degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a postgraduate degree from Rutgers School of Law.
A longtime member of the NJ Bar Association, her career spanned decades. She was a former Purchasing Director for Bergen County, former Attorney for the Newark, NJ Prosecutor's office, and a former Attorney for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. Later in life she became an avid genealogist and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Brigid was a survivor of a courageous battle with cancer, and one of three children born to the late John Joseph Bohan and Mary Morrison Bohan. She will forever be remembered by her devoted brother Peter, sister Moira, nephews Peter, Jason and Brendan, sister in-law Linda Bohan, along with the countless other friends who had the pleasure to know her.

In 2009 Brigid sent me an Espy Family Genealogy on CD. Recently, I tried to find her email, in fact I found it and sent an email, but got no response, because I am finally making a longed-for trip to Ireland and remembered we have family there. Even more recently (today!) I found I still have the CD she sent me. Unfortunately the Espy Genealogy pdf is damaged and can't be opened. Unless someone has carried the torch of her genealogical research, it is lost to me forever. Annie Rasiak nee Stoughton, daughter of Genevieve Smith Stoughton, daughter of Denis A. Morrison but adopted by his sister, Genevieve Morrison Smith and her husband Walter G. Smith, our common ancestor.

I have wonderful memories of all the fun and good times we had, especially our shared "love" for the Rolling Stones! She was a good friend and I looked forward to her emails and all the good advice and funny things she said, as well as "do you remember....?" I will really miss Brigid. I knew her longer than I have known anyone else, other than my family.

Brigid was my big sister's best friend and I remember her teaching me to dance (it didn't take) and having debates about Beach Boys vs. Beatles. She will remain forever young in my heart and mind and memories.
