Brigitte K. Sinton died on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at the age of 79. She was born Brigitte Josefine Huberta Gabriele Kroh in Teplice, Czech Republic on March 19, 1944 to the late Hubert Ernst and Elisabeth (Kühnhackl) Kroh.

Brigitte came to the United States with her parents and brother Hubert in 1948. They passed through El Paso, TX before settling in Huntsville, AL. After graduating from Huntsville High School she earned an Associate of Arts degree from Sacred Heart College, a Bachelor of Arts in languages from Georgetown University, and a Master of Arts from Vanderbilt University. Brigitte worked as a translator and German teacher before beginning her career at The Intergraph Corporation in Huntsville, AL. There she met David Fredrick Sinton, and in 1984 they were married. In 2004 they moved to Melbourne Village, FL where Brigitte worked on the continuing population census for the US Census Bureau, was elected to the board of trustees of the American Heritage Foundation, and served as treasurer for the Space Coast League of Women Voters.

Her greatest pleasure in life was traveling the world, especially Europe, where she and Dave spent many happy vacations exploring and visiting their families.

She is survived by her husband, David Sinton; three nephews, Michael (Kelly) Kroh, Houston; Timothy (Sarah) Kroh, Austin; and Matthew (Katherine) Kroh, Denton, TX.

Not sure what to say?

My sister, Frauke Manteuffel, held a deep fondness for Brigitte who was her childhood friend as immigrants together in 1948. They lost touch after our family moved from Huntsville to Ithaca. I'm named Brigitte because Frauke wanted me to be named after her friend. Frauke lived in Merritt Island and died a year before Brigitte. If they had only known they lived so close to each other for so many years.

Brigitte and I were roommates during our senior year at Georgetown but lost contact after graduating in 1966.
I will never forget her sweetness, patience, and wisdom.
RIP, Brigitte

I have many fond memories of Brigitte’s visits to us in Northern Ireland and my time spent with her and David in Melbourne. She was always cheerful and interested in all the family news. She will be missed by us all.

I met Brigitte when she joined the League of Women Voters of the Space Coast in 2006. She was full of energy and soon was elected to the Board of Directors serving as our treasurer for over 14 years. Brigitte was always so kind and caring; a great asset to our League and a great friend to me. I miss her and send my deepest sympathies to Dave and family.

I enjoyed knowing Brigitte. My sympathies to David and family.

Brigitte was a thoughtful person who impacted her community, neighbors, and town by her selfless efforts. She was a lovely person who, personally, to me was a great example to me of a leader who never quit being active and involved and caring about others. We will miss her.

Brigitte was always hospitable and welcoming to Dave's Irish family. We had some lovely holidays together and we loved the way she took good care of our brother. She will be greatly missed.

A dear childhood friend who has remained a part of my life! She will remain there!
She leaves a hole in our collective growing up years as immigrants to the US.
