I first met Sandy when I was a very junior associate and he was a partner at Milbank. One day, we waited for the subway together on the way home. He advised me: "Always carry a briefcase. It will make you look businesslike." And then, with a wink, "even if it only holds your lunch." After leaving the firm, we later met again in Bronxville. A lovely and very kind man.
