Chambers Funeral Homes - North Olmsted Obituary

BRUCE A. “BUTCH” YONDO, age 85, of Avon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025. Born on June 4, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, Bruce was a proud graduate of Columbia High School and a dedicated U.S. Army veteran.

Bruce built a long and successful career in the air freight industry and later found fulfillment working as a realtor with his wife. A man of deep integrity and quiet strength, he was known for his tireless work ethic, practical wisdom, and steady presence.

Bruce was married for 58 years to his true love, the late Carol Yondo (née Carnes), with whom he shared a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family. He was a devoted father to three children—Mike (Heather), Debbie Burke (Chris, fiance), and Shelly Young (Jim)—and a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Emma, Abby, Jack, Caden, Luke, Brennan, and Ava. He took great joy in attending their sporting events and supporting them every step of the way. He was also the beloved brother of the late Lois Babjak.

A man of faith, Bruce was a longtime volunteer at his church, always willing to lend a hand or offer support to others. He had a natural talent for woodworking and could fix just about anything. He cherished time spent with his close circle of friends and especially enjoyed traveling—often escaping the Ohio winters for sunny Florida. Bruce will be remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.

Butch was such a fun and loving person. He and your mother had an amazing life together and cherished their children and grandchildren. Family was number one, as they looked forward to all the family adventures and practical jokes to make you all laugh. What a wonderful legacy your dad and mom left for you to carry on! Sending lots of love, peace and comfort during this difficult time. He will be missed!

Mike Yondo so sorry for your loss. Your mom and dad were such a nice couple and both were so embracing. My thoughts and prayers go with you, your family and your siblings.
