Ledyard - Bruce Stuart Bailey, 61, of 14 Blacksmith Drive, Ledyard, passed away Friday, Feb. 29, 20008, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London.
Mr. Bailey was born on March 7, 1946, in Nashua, N.H., the son of Frank and Mary Bailey.
He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and had received the Bronze Star for his service.
Bruce worked for many years at Electric Boat Co., in Groton, retiring as a supervisor.
He was a life member of the Mystic Post 3263 V.F.W., holding many positions within the Post over his 30 years of membership.
Bruce leaves his former wife, Sissy Kennedy of Ledyard, with whom he made his home; his two stepsons, Jason Kennedy of Mystic and Scott Kennedy of Groton; his brother and sister-in-law, Craig and Phyllis Bailey of Woburn, Mass.; and his beloved grandson," The Little Dude" Derek Kennedy.
His graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Starr Hill Cemetery, Lestertown Road, Groton. There are no visiting hours.
Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Bruce's memory be made to the CT Humane Society, 169 Old Colchester Road, Quaker Hill CT 06375.
I had the privledge of working with Bruce and what a kind gentleman he was. May he rest in peace and you enjoy the memories of your life together.

It brought a tear to me as I have lost a good freind from our teen years when we were growing up and our working years.There are so many fond memories and fun we had through the years. I will miss him so much. My heart goes out to his family members along with my deepest sympathy.
Sorry that I can't attend the service as I am out of town.

Another light has gone out and another Vet is at rest. Bruce was my LT on the crossing patrol when we attended Groton Heights (Craig, remember Ruth Peirson and Dorothy Brown) all those years ago. And later, he and Craig and I were in Troop 75 together..our first "military" experience. We were probably in Nam at the same time but in different services. My sympathy to his wife and kids and to you Craig, the inseperable brother. I know you were Army Bruce, but Semper Fi and shine...

This is very sad news. Bruce was my younger cousin, babysitting charge, and companion on many jaunts around Groton and New London. My deepest sympathy to his wife, step sons, grandson, and to Craig.
