Bruce Allen Bayley, 81, of South Washington Street, North Attleboro, died unexpectedly at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 after having been stricken ill at his residence a short time earlier. He was the husband of Shirley Alice (Malinowksi) Bayley to whom he was married on July 21, 1951.
Born in Taunton, Massachusetts on June 29, 1925, he was a son of the late Henry F. and Nora (Plummer) Bayley. He was raised and educated in Mansfield where he was a 1943 graduate of Mansfield High School.
Following high school, Mr. Bayley enrolled in Tufts University where he was a student for two years prior to joining the United States Armed Forces.
He served with the United States Navy from 1945 until his honorable discharge in 1947.
Mr. Bayley was employed as a salesman for various industries his entire professional career and was the former owner and operator of Automated Mailings in North Attleboro.
He returned to North Attleboro in 1983 after having resided in Sharon for 19 years. Prior to moving to Sharon he resided in North Attleboro, communities in Connecticut and in Mansfield.
Mr. Bayley was a member of Central Congregational Church in the Village of Attleboro Falls.
An active member of numerous organizations, he was a devoted member of Bristol Lodge A.F. & A.M. in North Attleboro and the St. James Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Mansfield. Mr. Bayley served as the Right Worshipful Past District Deputy Grand Master, was Past Master of St. James Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Mansfield; Past High Priest of Key Stone Chapter; Past Illustrious Master of Attleboro Council; Past Exalted Commander of Bristol Commandery #29; served as Treasurer of the Rabboni Chapter; was a member of the Mayflower York Rite College, K.Y. C.H. Priory #52, Scottish Rite Bodies Boston Valley and was a Shriner with the Palestine Temple in Providence.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, he leaves four children: Todd S. Bayley of Waterville, Maine; Lee A. Bayley of North Attleboro; Holly Mills of Marietta, Georgia and Dawn A. Reed of Marietta, Georgia; four grandchildren: John K. Mills V of Marietta, Georgia; Heather I. Bayley of Waterville, Maine; Taylor C. Mills of Marietta, Georgia and Nicole B. Bayley of Waterville, Maine and a brother: Lewis F. Bayley of Bangor, Maine. He was the brother of the late Patricia Grant who had resided in Columbia Falls, Maine.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation with Veteran’s Honors and join the family in a celebration of Mr. Bayley’s life on Sunday, April 1, 2007 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the “Memorial Chapel” of the DYER-LAKE FUNERAL HOME, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, funeral home ¾ mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.
A Masonic ritual service conducted by Bristol Lodge A.F. & A.M. of North Attleboro and St. James Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Mansfield will be held at the conclusion of visitation on Sunday, April 1, 2007 at 8:00 PM in the “Memorial Chapel” of the DYER-LAKE FUNERAL HOME, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, funeral home ¾ mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. At this time, Mr. Bayley will be posthumously awarded his 50-year pin for his dedication and involvement with the Masonic Order that was scheduled to be awarded on Tuesday, April 3, 2007.

A private funeral service will be held on Monday, April 2, 2007 and burial will follow with full military honors in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, North Attleboro with the Rev. Carole L. Baker, Pastor of Central Congregational Church, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Bristol Lodge AF & AM Scholarship Fund, PO Box 787, North Attleboro, MA 02760 to benefit local students’ educational ambitions.
