Bruce Graham Davey

Bruce Davey, 63, passed away on March 29, 2014 at his daughter's home in Indianapolis surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Rhinebeck, NY to James R. and Marget Stewart Davey. Bruce spent much of his early childhood on Staten Island, NY and Paul Smiths, NY then moved to Lowville, NY in 1963.

After graduation from Lowville Academy and Central School in 1968, Bruce served in Vietnam in the Navy on the USS Ranger and was later an Air Force reservist.

Mr. Davey was both a village (Lowville, NY) police officer and a New York State Trooper. He retired from the New York State Police in the early 1980s and commenced his career with the United States Post Office. During his time with the USPS, Bruce served as post master of several facilities.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Elaine Caufield Davey; and their children, Azure Diane Davey (LuAnn Humphrey) and Brigham Caufield Davey (Cassandra Flowers). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Creighton and Presstyn; his mother, Marget Stewart Davey; his brothers and sisters, Stewart (Kelly Hamilton), Hamish (Eloise), Derek (Lorene), Chris, Sloane Gugger (Chris), and Felicity; and many cousins.

He was predeceased by his brother, Frederick; sister, Pamela; and father, James.

A celebration service will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home , Indianapolis, IN on Friday, April 11 at Noon. There will also be a memorial celebration and spreading of Mr. Davey's ashes in the Adirondack Mountains this Fall. If anyone so desires, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Davey's name to the Semper Fi Fund at http://www.semperfifund.org.
