Not sure what to say?

Please accept my belated condolences for Bruce, my high school friend from Morton Grove.

I just learned from Carleton classmate Randy Steinman of Bruce's passing. He was a larger than life figure on campus, known to some fondly as Super Banacek. He was competitive, especially in volleyball, and also playful and caring. He loved science and was a passionate advocate for his discipline among those of us non-scientists. He had a wonderful laugh and lively, curious and creative mind. He was a great conversationalist and devoted friend. To his family, colleagues and students,I am so...

We were grieved to hear of Bruce's passing. We were classmates of Bruce's at
Carleton and have many fond memories of him. He was a frequent jogging partner for both of us (many good runs through the Arb)and a tennis partner--always jovial, concerned about everyone's well-being, and quite notorious as a punster. Bruce also has an extra special place in our hearts because he was responsible for the two of us meeting.

Hello - I was just checking the Internet for old friends from Carleton, and found the account of Bruce's passing. We were roommates at Carleton from 1974-75, along with John Soderstrom, who went on to a career in physics. I managed to get Bruce into the musical FIORELLO while we were there, and often played volleyball with him - often on the other side of the net! It was not the easiest roommate situation (with three such different personalities!), but we managed. Both myself and my wife,...

I had the honor to be a student of Professor Elenbogen, he was an amazing person in and out of the classroom. Very helpful and caring. I'm very sadden for the family's lost and I send my blessings and prayers to them.

I had him as a teacher, my sons did too and my husband taught a few classes with him. He was a wonderful teacher and human being. My prayers for his family.

Dear Linda, Josh and Andrew,

We are so sorry for your loss. You all are I. Our thoughts and prayers!
