Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home Obituary

Bruce Ferris, beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away at home April 27th. Bruce's stature was dwarfed only by his appetite for life. A voracious reader, fisherman, hunter, golf enthusiast, and devoted member of the Treige clan, Bruce's priority was his family. Bruce's gifts to this world extended beyond his holiday prime rib skills and knowledge of almost any subject served to him. If you were in Bruce's life, you were his family, and family meant everything to Bruce. Bruce served in the U.S. Army, having been stationed in Germany from 1976-1979. Following in his uncle's footsteps, Bruce proudly worked at the U.S. Post Office for twenty-seven years, mainly in Lodi, WI. Whether as a member of the Lions Club, Ducks Unlimited, or as an all around good guy, Bruce's goal in life was one of family devotion and civic responsibility. He was very proud to become a dual citizen with Canada several years ago, giving homage to his parents' heritage. Bruce loved to travel, whether to Land O' Lakes for fishing trips with his buddies, to Canada where Vancouver held a special place in his heart, to Sturgeon Falls, Ont. which held an even more dear place in his familial heart, or across the pond for a Scottish adventure with his sister. Bruce's heart may have been his physical issue in this life, but his heart was also his gift to those whom he loved beyond measure. While our hearts are breaking, they are also more full because of his love for us. He is survived by a brother Brian Ferris (Debra Kristapovich), four sisters Judy Ferris, Anita Ferris, Michelle Ferris, and Yvette Ferris, a nephew Michael Ferris, four nieces Andrea Showers, Elizabeth Showers, Hannah Ferris, and Katie Ferris, a great-nephew Wesley Ferris, as well as many cousins and friends. He is preceded death by his parents, Anna and Wesley Ferris, and aunts, uncles, and cousins who no longer have to wait for a good game of Dirty Clubs. A Memorial Service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016, at Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home 302 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. A visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ducks Unlimited, The Columbia County Humane Society, or by simply calling your sibling. Not sure what to say?

It was a blessing to know Bruce at the Lodi Post Office! He was always so friendly. I really missed him when he left, and was so very sorry when I saw his obituary on the door of the post office today. I was very sorry to miss the visitation. May he rest in Peace!

I will love you for the rest of my life. I will never ever stop missing you.

Will miss our chats at the post office Bruce...you were always enjoyable and unforgettable.

I will miss Bruce giving me a good-natured hard time daily at the Lodi Post Office (and me returning the favor). I once told him that I had him figured out, that he was rough on the outside, but a big old cream puff softy on the inside. He smiled and made me promise not to let anyone know. Well Bruce, the secret is out now. RIP.

My condolences go to Bruce's family. I worked with him at the post office for nine years, he was always willing to help out his friends. He also was more than willing to talk about hunting, fishing, and of course his beloved Cubs. Bruce, you will be missed.

Dear Family of Bruce's;
I was a person who would go into the post office in Lodi. When I would get to the counter I always hoped the person to help me would be Bruce. He always had a smile and a great sense of humor. I will miss his smiling face. Please know how lucky I am for have known Bruce. You have my deepest sympathy.
Rest peacefully now Bruce.
Gods Blessings

Going to the post office always was an adventure when Bruce was at the counter. Sometimes I would purposely get to the back of the lie to watch and hear how he handled each question and each customer. I chuckled many times as his responses were always worth enjoying! It was an experience that I have missed since his "retirement" earlier. It won't seem real now going to the post office and knowing that he is only with us in memory. Bruce...you often made my day for Better or for Worse and...

My thoughts and prayers go to Bruce's family. When we first moved to Lodi 26 years ago, I had met him at the post office. Over the years he became a dear person who I came to know and love. He was so kind to my elderly mother and always asked about her when she could no longer come to the post office. He talked about his overseas trip with his sister and shared how grateful he was they were able to go. I will never forget Bruce and his kindness. God Bless him.

I first met Bruce at Wisconsin Cheeseman in Sun Prairie. I worked with him. This was back in 1984. I partied with him at Patches and then later I lived in Lodi and he worked at the post office. He was a very kind man and he will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in Peace dear friend.
