Bruce "Cork" LaMay was born on October 8, 1951 in Flint to Bruce and Joyce (Witter) LaMay, Sr.

In the neighborhood where he grew up, the love of his life, Jenny LaMay was living only a few houses down. They eventually married on May 3, 1968 in Flint and welcomed their first son in 1969. Cork graduated from Hamady High School in 1969. From there he and Jenny went on and raised 3 more children.

Cork was employed as a telephone technician for 30 years. He always said when he retired, he wanted to buy his dream car, a 1963 Corvette Stingray split window, as his retirement gift to himself. After he retired from ATT in 2000, his dream came true. His Corvette Stingray was his Pride and Joy. You would find him every year with his Corvette parked down at the Back to the Bricks in downtown Flint, among other car shows throughout the summers.

Cork worked delivering auto parts for Auto Value and Auto Zone, and vehicles for Hank Graff in Davison. He was employed at Hank Graff until his passing.

Cork was a proud member of the Lac Courte Orielles, the CWA, and the American Pioneers.

Cork loved his wife and kids immensely. He also loved, adored, and cherished his 9 grandchildren with his whole heart. He never missed a function, and was always their biggest cheerleader.

Cork touched the lives of many, and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He always had the best stories and the corniest jokes. Those who had the privilege to know him knew he had a huge heart, a smile that would leave you wanting more, and a contagious chuckle. He gave the best hugs that no matter what you were feeling in that moment, it would all melt away. Cork certainly cherished all of his family and friends, and would help out no matter the circumstances. He will be sadly missed by everyone that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father Bruce LaMay, Sr., his mother Joyce (Witter) LaMay, his beloved son Robert LaMay, his brother Lonnie LaMay, and his sister Cindy Betts.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Jenny, son Bruce LaMay III and wife Mona of Rockford, daughter in law Lisa LaMay of Longview, TX, son Rusty LaMay and wife Jen of Owosso, and daughter Kathy Hopkins and husband Joe of Clio. Those left to carry his legacy are his beloved grandkids, his "Punkin" Brittany "Blue Jeanne", Tristin, Bruce "Lil B", Megyn Grace, Kaylee, Mya, Ally, Clayton, and his little buddy Carter. Cork is survived by his siblings, brother Gary and wife Vicki of Swartz Creek, sister Bonita Russell and husband Doug of Kalkaska, and brother Dale and wife Laura of Clio. He will also be missed by lots of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Not sure what to say?

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of Corky, Bruce LaMay. My heart breaks for all of his family, they have had so many loss's this year. I pray for peace and comfort for all of you.

I worked with Bruce at McLeod, he was a very nice guy. He always spoke very highly of his family and always had a smile on his face. God bless him and the LaMay Family.

Bruce had such a soft and gentle personality. He delivered parts to us at our carlot. I smiled when I read his obituary about his Corvette. He would light up when we had conversation about his Vette. I cherish the fact that I had the chance to know him. Sending prayers to all his family and Friends.

To the Lamar family: I worked with your dad at the Flint Auto Auction. He was a wonderful, thoughtful guy. He brought his beautiful Corvette for my husband to admire a few times when we went to lunch together.
