Bruce MacArthur, and Barbara, taught us that having passion is one thing, acting on it is another, and pursuing it relentlessly to achieve some conclusive ending still another. I will never forget writing, as a local news editor about his efforts in Charlevoix, and sometimes colluding with him as a friend. Long live the spirit of Bruce MacArthur and long live Charlevoix, which he helped keep "the Beautiful."

It was with sadness that I learned about Bruce's death. In my opinion he was the greatest of men in his singleminded love of Charlevoix. The town is a much better place because of his and his wife Barbara's dedication to improving its beauty. As the founder of Keep Charlevoix Beautiful, he worked tirelessly to work on its beautification.
