Bruce D. Mann September 7, 1946 - October 1, 2024 Fircrest, Washington - More than anything, Bruce loved teaching. Not sure what to say?

Dr. Bruce Mann was a great neighbor. I enjoyed attending his annual Pierce County Economic forecasts that were attended by many of the local businesses and government officials. His presentations were done with insight and humor. Dr. Mann was young at heart and very interesting.

So sorry to hear about Bruce's passing

I was deeply saddened to hear earlier today of Bruce's passing. I took Econ 101 from him as a freshman to meet a Core requirement. He turned a "must do" into a lifelong fascination on my part. When I changed my major from music to economics as a sophomore, Bruce became my advisor. I benefited greatly from his skill as a professor and thoughtful guidance as an advisor. I was fortunate to be a research intern for Bruce in conjunction with a housing affordability study he did with the Chief...

Bruce Mann introduced me to the world of macroeconomics, spring semester 1976. I was fascinated with the subject and the team Bruce Mann and Ernie Combs inspired me to select economics as my major. Bruce holds an influential and memorable place in my life. Thomas Walker Owen, BA Economics, class of 1977.

Although Bruce was not my econ professor at UPS, I did have occasion to seek his assistance, and I have fond memories of seeing him and Doug chatting on the steps of McIntyre Hall. Later, I became employed by the City of Tacoma and had the pleasure of working with him and Doug on a project, the outcome of which greatly benefitted the City, City employees, and the citizens of Tacoma. I was so saddened to hear of his passing. He was smart, witty, and kind; I am fortunate to have known him.

I am so sorry to hear of Bruce´s passing. I worked with Bruce and Doug on a project for City of Tacoma. To say I enjoyed his company would be a huge understatement. He not only really knew his stuff he was so much fun to work with. His report and presentation to the Council made me look good. RIP Bruce

Bruce and I were friends as well as long-time colleagues at the University of Puget Sound. He was always thoughtful, kind and respectful in our dealings together. He, Doug and I teamed up on a number of research projects-one involving the City of Tacoma while I served on the City Council. He was truly a dedicated teacher and was admired by his many students. Carol and I extend our heartfelt condolences to the family.

Sending condolences to Judy and family.
