I met Bruce Murphy early last year when he began helping me obtain the proper state certification for inspection of amusement rides at the Fort Worth Zoo. I learned of his death only today from his mother after I had tried to contact him last week. In the very short time that I knew Bruce, I was constantly in awe of his extraordinary technical expertise and his warm and courteous personality. I was looking forward to working with him again this summer and it will be difficult for me to...

I would like to share with Bruce's friends this item which I found when going through Bruce's briefcase:
TO THOSE I LOVE
If I should ever leave you whom I love,
To go along the Silent Way, grieve not,
Nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk
Of me as if I were beside you, for
Who knows, but that I shall be often times?
I'd come, could I but find a way!
But would not tears and grief be barriers?
And when you hear a song I used to...

Bruce Murphy has been my friend since we were seniors in 1972. I have not seen him or kept in contact for about 15 years now and I was so excited about our 30th class reunion coming up this year because I was convinced that I would get to see Bruce again! He was my dear friend and everytime he came home to visit I would run over to his brother Steve's house to see him. I moved to Houston and lived there for about twelve years and we lost touch with each other.Probably because of our class...

I worked with Bruce for fourteen years while he was employed at Vought. When he left to work for Boeing, it created a huge void in our NDT Lab. I was happy for him because I knew he would be able to expand his career and more importantly to do something he loved so much - sailing. I spoke with him the night before he left for Seattle, he was looking forward to the new challenges facing his life. However, a regret and deep concern was that he would be so far away from his parents and...

It is difficult to put in to words what my Uncle Bruce meant to me and to our family. I knew Bruce as a true Rennaisance man. He was as interested in gourmet cooking as he was the inert strength of steel. He was a person who lived his life as he chose, and he chose well...travel,outdoors,good friends, family, career, education. He will be missed..but I sleep better at night knowing that he is somewhere out there and on my side.

In appreciation of Bruce there is much to admire. As a thirteen year co worker Level III at Vought I was assigned to the West Coast (Los Angeles). Even from this fairly remote locale Bruce had a way of making his presence felt all the way from Dallas. Though there were many projects and problems in the NDT world, one thing that was always constant was the professionalism and intelligent insight that Bruce would provide. What was always brought to table was Bruce’s unflinching dedication to do...

Bruce was undoubtably one of the most interesting and intelligent people I ever met. We would talk about everything from sausage making,cajun/creole cuisine, sailing and business concepts, to the latest advancements in nondestructive testing technology. There was no question when talking to Bruce that he was a man who liked to live life to its fullest and he no doubt crammed a lot of living into his forty-eight years. Those of us who were allowed past his "hard" outer shell got to know his...
