Bruce Tlustos, age 62, passed away at home unexpectedly on Thursday June 27, 2024. He was a beloved father, husband, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday July 9, 2024 at Heritage Funeral Home. Family will be present from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Burial will occur at a later date at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Artesian, SD.
Bruce was born on November 17, 1961 to Harlan and Joyce Tlustos in Mitchell, SD; however, moved around throughout his childhood. He graduated from Plainview High School in Plainview, MN in 1980 and later moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1984 where he worked as a mechanic until his retirement 2022. On March 16, 2020 he was united in marriage to the love of his life Kim.
In his free time, Bruce enjoyed working on his project cars, watching the Minnesota Vikings, his eccentric choice in music, and was always eager to share the best jokes. Bruce also had an avid love for his many pinball machines. He had a book of jokes stored in his head and was known for never running out of them. Besides his family, his biggest prized possessions are his classic cars.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Kim Tlustos; his children, Kyle (Heather) Tlustos, Dan (Melanie) Tlustos, and Tomas Tlustos; step children, Ashley (Shane Boyd) Hagen, Dayton (Maria) Hagen, Carson Hagen, and Tayven Westrup; granddaughters McKenzie Nelson, Marissa Tlustos, Sophia Boyd, Alana Tlustos, and Hannah Kutilek; grandsons, Knox Boyd, Weston Kutilek, Gavin Boyd, Gates Boyd; honorary grandsons Stasek Stefanyuk, Jashon Westrup, and Carter Westrup; brothers, Mike (Brenda) Tlustos and Joe (Joan) Tlustos; and a host of many dear friends.
Bruce was proceeded in death by his parents; and stepson Dawson Hagen.
