I'll always remember Mr. Mattei as one of my favorite teachers in all my years of schooling. He taught in a no-nonsense fashion yet always with a twinkle in his eye. He loved to have a little fun in class and was at all times a complete gentleman.

Mr. Mattei was a wonderful teacher.
He inspired a love of Spanish (1954)
& I continued to study 3 more years
in college. I have fond memories of all the fun & learning in his class.

When I think of Mr. Mattei I remember the time he danced on a table to a song we had just learned in Spanish class, this was at Tottenville High School circa 1967. He was a fun teacher, someone I will never forget.

He was a man like no other. He will be missed. He filled my childhood with joy and taught me a few things! A lovely man that will not be soon forgotton! He was a blessing in all of our lives. May he rest in peace.
